votes received by the winning candidate = 31488
let total no. of the electorate be x
so,
48% of x = 31488
1% of x = 31488/48
100% of x = 31488/48 × 100 = 656 × 100 = 65600
⇒ total electorate = 65600
the other candidate got 2% votes
⇒ total votes cast were 48 +2 = 50% of the total electorate
⇒ half of 65600 did not vote = 32800 people did not cast their vote

2.
the marked price of the frock = 440
discount = 15%
so, 15% of 440 = 15/100 × 440 = 66
so, SP = 440 - 66 = 374
