Voltage drops when it passes through a component. This creates a potential difference. So all components are in series.

The type of combination is series.

  • The electric circuit is defined as the path through which electric current flows. The electric circuit is of many types like open, close, series, parallel and short circuits.
  • In the series circuit, the components are joined in series. Thus, the voltage drop occurs at each component causing variation in voltage.
  • In a series circuit, there is only one path for the flow of current and hence, damage in any component breaks the circuit.
