the gas collected in anode is Oxygen and Cathode is hydrogen if dilute H2 S o4 is not added to water the passing of electricity and water dissociates to hydrogen and oxygen will be stopped

■1■

at anode : oxygen is collected

at cathode : hydrogen is collected

■2■

h20 ---(electric current)---> h2 + 02

thus water decomposes to give hydrogen and oxygen in the ratio of 2:1 by volume . hydrogen gas is present in one of the test tube is double the volume than the other gas ...

■3■

if dilute h2so4 is not added to water then the h20 will not produce its ion and will not disassociate to give h2 and O2 gas ....

hope its helpful pls mark me as brainliest ........
