In an entertainment programme, 125 tickets of 500 and 400 tickets of 125 were sold. If the entertainment tax is 40% on ticket of 500 and 20% on ticket of 125, find how much entertainment tax was collected from the programme.

Since we have given that

Number of tickets of each Rs. 400 =250

Number of tickets of each Rs. 100 = 500

Entertainment tax on Rs. 400 =40%

Entertainment tax on Rs. 100 = 20%

So, Tax would be

\begin{gathered}\dfrac{40}{100}\times 400=\dfrac{16000}{100}=160\\\\and\\\\\dfrac{20}{100}\times 100=\dfrac{2000}{100}=20\end{gathered}

Total total tax would be

\begin{gathered}160\times 250+20\times 500\\\\=40000+10000=50000\end{gathered}

160×250+20×500

=40000+10000=50000
