no of students passed=550+360=910
no of students failed=1100+900-960=1040
failed%=1040/2000 x100=52% answer

deep251: from where you got 960

Since 50% of 1100 boys passed, that means that half of the boys passed which is 550 boys who passed. 40% of 900 girls is 360. That means that a total of 910  students passed. If there are a total of 2000 students who took the exam, subtract 910 from 2000 to get the number of students who failed, which is 1090. divide 1090 by 2000 to get the percentage as the final answer: 54.5%
