x=455*100/65=700

Then,
percentage of students passed=35%
therefore,
number of students passed=35%of x
=35/100×x
=7/20×x
=7x/20

number of students failed =455
Thus,
total number of students appeared
x =7x/20+455
x=7x+(455×20)/20
20x=7x+9100
20x-7x=9100
13x=9100
x=9100/13
therefore x =700.

SO, NUMBER OF STUDENTS APPEARED=x=700.
