if 35% of students passed then definitely 65% would have failed. rite!
let the total no of students be x.
so 65% of x=455 (i.e no of students failed)
65/100 x X = 455
SO X=455x(100/65)=700 students.
hope this s useful..!! enjoy!! all the best!!

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let total number of students appeared in the examination be = x

Percentage of students passed=35%

Therefore,

Number of students passed = 35% of x

= 35/100×x

= 7/20×x

= 7x/20

Number of students that failed =455

Therefore,

Total number of students that appeared -

x =7x/20+455

x =7x+(455×20)/20

= 20x=7x+9100

= 20x-7x = 9100

= 13x = 9100

= x=9100/13

= x =700.

Therefore, 700 students appeared for the examination.
