A:failed in hindi
B:failed in english
n(A) =35
n(B)=45
n(AandB)=20
So n(AorB) =n(A) +n(B) - n(AandB)
=35+45-20
=60
Those who passed in both subjects =100-n(AorB)
=40% reqd ans

Answer :

The number of student who pass in both Subjects are 40%.

Step by step explanation :

Hey Mate,

X is the number of students who fail in Hindi  Subject

Y is the number of students who fail in English Subject.

Given Data :

n ( X ) = 35

n ( Y ) = 45

n ( X ∩ Y )=20

Now,

n( X ∪ B ) = n ( X ) + n ( Y ) - n( X ∩ Y )

n( X ∪ B ) = ( 35 + 45 ) - 20

n( X ∪ B ) = 80 - 20

n( X ∪ B ) = 60

So, The number of student who pass in both Subjects are :

=> 100 - n( X ∪ B )

=> 100 - 60

=> 40%
