in an examination 52% candidate fail in english, 42% failed in mathematics and 17% in both. the number of those who passed on both the subject.

By law, P(AUB)=P(A)+P(B)-P(AnB)

P(A)=52%

P(B)=42%

P(AnB)=17%

=52+42-17

=77%

To find passed in both lets do , 100-77 which is 23%
