Let total no. of examiners be x.

Given,

65% of total are passed = 65% of x

Passed = 65x / 100 = 13x / 20

Also, Failed = 420

we know,

Total examiners = Passes + Failed

x = ( 13x / 20 ) + 420

420 = x - ( 13x / 20 )

420 = 20x - 13x / 20

420 * 20 = 7 x

x = 420 * 20 / 7

x = 60 * 20 = 1200

Hence, total no. of examiners are 1200
