in an examination 96% of the candidates passed and 36 failed. how many candidates appeared for the examination? with solvation steps

failed = 100 - 96 = 4%
4% of the total students is 36
so 1% of the total students is 9
100% of the total students is 9*100 = 900

100% of the total students means the total number of candidates.
so 900 is the answer
