Percentage of student who failed=100%-96%=4 %.

Let the total no. of students be x

4% of x=50
(4/100)×x=50
x=50×100/4
x=5000/4
x=1250

Therefore total no. of students who appeared the test=1250.

Answer: 624

Step-by-step explanation:

let think total candidate = 100%

passed candidate = 96%

then failed candidate = (100-96)% = 4%

number of failed candidate = 50

so, we can say,

4% = 50

1% = 50 / 4%

100% = 50 * 100% / 4 = 624

624 candidates appear in the exam.
