in an examination, a candidate has to secure 40% marks to pass. The candidate gets 212 marks and fails by 28 marks . find the maximum marks of the examination.

212+28=40% of x
240=40/100 ×x
240×100 /40=x
600=x
maximum marks is 600.

as passing marks will be 212+28= 240

so 40/100 0f x = 240 [ x is the total or maximum marks]

x=240*100/40

x= 600
