Let the total marks be x
ATQ
 \frac{40 \times x}{100} + 30 = \frac{50 \times x}{100} \\ 4x + 300 = 5x \\ 5x - 4x = 300 \\ x = 300 \\ so \: paing \: marks \: is \\ = \frac{40 \times 300}{100} \\ = 120
