Find the passing marks:

Passing marks = 274 + 16 = 290

Find the total marks:

40% = 290

1% = 290 ÷ 40= 7.25

100% = 7.25 x 100 = 725

Answer: The total marks is 725

Hey dear friend

Require Percentage to pass=40%
Marks of student=274
Failed by marks=16.

Marks required for pass=274+16
Marks required by student to pass=290

Let the total marks be X
So, the 40% of X is 290

=>40/100*X=290
=>2x/5=290
=>x=290*5/2
=>x=725

So, the total marks are 725.
