Let total examination marks be x.
Now student got 145 marks and failed by 35 marks.
Therefore passing marks=145+35=180---(1).
But we know that passing marks are 36% of total marks.
i.e passing marks=36x/100.----(2)
Comparing (1) and (2)....
180= 36x/100
180*100/36=x
5*100=x
Total Marks= 500
