number of boys who passed

1100 \times \frac{50}{100}  = 550 \: boys \:

number of girls who passed

900 \times \frac{40}{100}  = 360 \: girls

therefore total number of student who passed are 910 students

and number of students in total are 2000

and number of students in total are 2000therefore student who failed are 2000 - 910 = 1090 students

show percentage of students who failed

100 \times \frac{1090}{2000}  =

54.5\% \: of \: students \: failed
