Question

in the examination 5/6 of the student passed their 120 students how many failed ?

Solution

Given,

  • in the examination 5/6 of the student are passed
  • the total number of student is 120 .

To find,

  • we have to find the number of students failed in the examination .

No. of students passed in examination :-

 =  >  \red{ \frac{5}{6}  \times 120}

 =  >  \red{ \frac{5}{ \cancel{6}}  \times  \cancel{120}}

 =  >  \red{ \: 5 \times 20}

 =  >  \red{100}

The total no. of students passed is 100 .

  • now to find the total number of students failed in the examination we have to subtract the total number of student and the total number of students passed in the examination .

 \bold{ \green{ =  >  total \: no \: of \: students \:  - total \: no \: of \: students \: passed \: }}

now let's put the value and find out ;

 \pink{ =  > 120 - 100}

 \pink{ = 20}

There are 20 student who failed the exam .
