Given,

Amount of fuel = 2.5 kg

The heat produced = 125000 KJ

To Find,

The calorific value of the fuel.

Solution,

Caloric value is the amount of heat present in food or fuel and is determined by the total burning value expressed by constant pressure and in normal conditions. Also called calorific power. The unit of caloric value is calories per kilogram i.e. KJ / Kg

The formula for calculating calorific value is

Calorific Value = Heat produced/Amount of fuel

                           = 125000/2.5

                            = 50000 KJ/kg

Hence, the calorific value of the fuel is 50000 KJ/kg.
