Let ΔABC be an isosceles triangle.

AB=AC            [Property of isosceles triangle]

Alsop we know that in isosceles triangle angles opposite to equal sides are always equal.

∴ ∠ABC=∠ACB

And AD bisects ∠A

∴ BD=DC

Hence AD is altitude on BC.
