Given : in an orchard the number of  trees in each column is 10 more than that in each row .

Total number of trees is 3000

To Find :  the number of trees in each column,

Solution:

number of trees in each column  =  x

number of  trees in each column is 10 more than that in each row .

number trees in each row   =  x - 10

Total number of trees = x(x - 10)

= x² - 10x

x² - 10x = 3000

=> x² - 10x - 3000 =

=> x² - 60x + 50x - 3000 = 0

=> (x - 60)(x + 50) = 0

=> x = 60

number of trees in each column  =  60
