Organs in an organism act both independently and by interacting with other organs, especially those in the same organ system. This statement is true as can be illustrated by the following examples:

- In the digestive system is made up of various body organs. The organs include the tongue, esophagus, stomach, ileum, pancreas and colon among many others.

- The individual organs act perform their independent functions. For example, the stomach digests food that gets into it and the ileum digests and absorbs food. These functions they do independently of other organs.

- The organs also depend and interact with one another to complete the process of digestion and abortion of food. Foe example, the ileum depends on the pancreas to provide some of the digestive enzymes it uses to digest food.

Organs conduct certain functions without the input of other organs and at the same time depend on other organs, almost entirely, to perform their functions. In this they show both interaction and independence.
