let the fixed charge be X.
then charge per km for first traveler = charge per km of second traveler.
((156-x)/16)=((204-x)/24

468-3x=408-2x

X=60 the fixed charge.
for first traveler.
for 16 km charge is 156-60=96 rupees.
for one km 96/16=6 rupees.
now for 30 km 6*30=180 rupees + fixed charge.
180+60=240 rupees for 30km.

let the fixed charge = RS x

per km cost = RS y

According to question

x+16y=156

x+24y=204

solving we get x RS 60 and y= RS 6

so to 30 km= 60+(30*6)

=RS 240
