Although democracy has its imperfections, it is so far the best and most fair system of governance existent in the world today. Democracy is a governing system where the citizens elect their representatives by voting, meaning universal suffrage in other words. A democratic government also spends time considering whether controversial national issues can be put up for direct voting by the citizens, e.g. referendums . It also allows controversial issues to be discussed and debated on media and through civil rights activism.
Some radical political right religious groups may find civil rights debates or disagreements on government policies blasphemous or offensive towards their Gods, but that’s an obsolete and erroneous perspective passed down from the ancient times. To prevent an abuse of power by governments and elite establishments, democracy is still the most fair governing system up to date.
