Economic growth in democracy is accompanied by increased inequalities among people because in actual life, democracy does not appear to very successful in reducing economic inequalities. Though it is expected to reduce economic disparities, democratically elected governments do not appear to be keen at addressing the question of poverty.

It is very true that In democracies growth in economy is accompanied by increase inequality. The democracy is based on political equality and not on economic equality because there is no just distribution of resources. The wealth is controlled in few hands and the growth in economy actually means their economic growth . On the other hand there are very less economic opportunities for poor as they hardly fulfill their basic needs of life. The rich gets richer and poor gets poorer which leads to increase in inequality. Democracies are controlled by rich and works for their interests.
