in desert plants how does the rate of loss of water get reduced

In dessert plant the rate of loss of water get reduced because there planta do not have leaves they have pointed leaves......

due to not having leaves it have less surface to lose water so water is conserved in this way.....

and they also have a coating of wax on their body....that also help them to conserve water...

they have thorny and waxy surface which doesn't allow much water to transpire from plant
