Silk is a luxury good in India. It is divided into the following:

A.KINKHWAB- An elegant silk, known for its butis and jals.

I)Mashru- A mixed fabric with a woven strips or zig zag pattern.

II)Himru or Amru- Type of brocade woven from silk to produce variegated designs.

B.POTHANS- A lighter texture with golden or silver zari.

I)Gyasar- Gold thread is used with Tibetan design.

II)Gyanta- Gold or silver threads on black satin ground.

III)Jamawar- Fabric used for bridal and special occasion outfits.
