In electrometallurgy of aluminium, why is the graphite rod used?

Again the answer would be that they are inert and do not react with substances produced and we can get the substance which we want to and secondly they are used as cathode and anode or as electrodes

Electrometallurgy of the aluminium which is fused mixture of purified alumina (Al2O3), fluorspar (CaF2) and cryolite (Na3AlF6).


Graphite are anode and graphite-lined iron in this electrolysis.


Electrolysis are Al with the liberated as cathode with the CO and CO2 becomes anode with more number of features.


Metal is used instead of the graphite as anode and O2 will be liberated.
