In elizabeth jennings' father to son, is my alternative interpretation ( i wrote this in an exam just now lol) that the father and son are estranged and both feel the other has wronged him but they are unable to reconcile even though they want to because they dont want to give anything up ('empty hands') and cannot put pride aside and ask the other for forgiveness ('longing for something to forgive') a valid interpretation of the poem?
