In Fig. 1 length = 42 cm , breadth
21 cm. From Fig. 1 a square of side 2 cm
is cut. Find the perimeter of the figures
and compare them.

perimeter of square is 4*length of one side

2. perimeter of rectangle is 2*length +breadth

perimeter of rectangle=2(l+b) =2(42+21)=126

and perimeter of square = 4a
