To prove: ∆CAB  ~ ∆CED.

To find: the value of x .

Let's compare ΔCAB and ΔCED,

Given ∠CAB = ∠CED

Also, ∠ACB = ∠ECD

Thus, ΔCAB ~  ΔCED (AA similarity).  

Hence proved.

Two similar triangles have corresponding sides in same ratios.

So CA/CE = AE/ED

15 / 10 = 9 / x

Therefore x = 9 * 10 / 15 = 6

x = 6 cm.
