Converse of basic proportionality theorem :

If a line divides any two sides of a triangle in the same ratio then the line must be parallel to the third side.

SOLUTION :

Given : P and Q are the points on sides EG and GF . EP = 3 cm, PG = 3.9 cm, FQ = 3.6 cm and QG = 2.4 cm.

In ∆GEF,

GP/PE = 3.9 /3 = 1.3

And,  GQ/QF = 3.6/ 2.4 = 3/2 = 1.5

so, GP/PE ≠ GQ/QF

Hence, PQ is not  || to EF.

[By Converse of basic proportionality theorem]
