in figure abcd is a rectangle find the value of x and y the side is 14cmand 30cm

Given:
AB =30 cm, AD= 14 cm
In rectangle opposite sides are equal.
AB = CD & BC = AD
x+y = 30.................(1)
x - y = 14.................(2)
On Adding eq 1 & 2
x+y + x - y = 30 +14
2x = 44
x = 44/2
x = 22 cm
Put the value of x= 22 in eq 1
x + y = 30
22 + y = 30
y = 30 - 22
y = 8 cm

Hence, the value of x = 22 cm & y= 8 cm.
