ANSWER

The given information is shown in the attached diagram.

DE∣∣BC

⟹∠ADE=∠ABC Corresponding angles

          ∠AED=∠ACB Corresponding angles

∠A is common to both the triangles.

∴ΔADE∼ΔABC by AAA similarity

⟹ADAB=AEAC

ADAB−1=AEAC−1 

ADBD=AECE

EC=1×1.53=2 cm
