in figure DE // BC. IF AD= x, DB= x-2, AE = x+2 and EC = x-1 find the value of x? ​

Answer:

by thales theorem

AD/DB=AE/EC

AD=x

DB=x-2

AE=X+2

EC=x-1

x/x-2=x+2/x-1

cross multiplication

x^2-x=x^2-2^2

x^2-x=x^2-4

-x=-4

x=4

verification

x/x-2=x+2/x-1

4/2=6/3

2/1=2/1

2=2

therefore our answer is correct
