In figure the ratio of currents in 3ohm and 1ohm resistor is 1:2

  • Consider the given figure,
  • Resistance in series = Rs = 1 ohm
  • Resistance in parallel = Rp
  • 1/R = 1/3 + 1/6 = 3/6
  • R = 6/3 = 2
  • ∴ Resistance in parallel = Rp = 2
  • Now, we have,
  • I = V/R
  • considering the voltage "V" to be constant, we have,
  • I = 1/R
  • The ratio resistance in parallel to the resistance in series
  • = Rp/Rs = 2/1 = 2
  • Now, consider the current equation
  • I = 1/R
  • I = 1/2
  • ∴ I = 1:2
