As such there is no position for hydrogen. Hydrogen has atomic number of 1 which means it has one electron in its hand. To complete duplet configuration it has to aquire 1 more electron which is similar to that of halogens(p block). At the same time hydrogen can donate one electron and can become a proton H+ which is similar to group 1 (s block)
