In group 15,why is only nitrogen can't able to extend its coordination number

In group 15 Nitrogen is the only element which does not have vacant d-orbitals.
While all others can use these vacant d-orbitals for expanding their octet and for bonding, nitrogen cannot.
So, nitrogen can only use its one s and three p orbitals for bonding, exhibiting maximum covalency of 4.
