meiosis occur in zygote
gametes are haploid and when they fuse they form diploid zygote but the main body is haploid so meiosis occur in zygote

HLO MATE HERE IS UR ANSWER

. Meiosis takes place only in diploid stage.

. Because zygote is the only diploid cell in the life cycle of such organisms .

. In haploid organisms diploid zygote is formed after fertilization by sexual reproduction.

. The haploid zygote undergoes meisois to produce haploid spores or zoo spores .

. These zoo spores then undergo mitosis to grow into a mature haploid gametophyte.
