Water exists in many forms, such as a liquid, a solid-as in snow and ice, underneath the land surface as groundwater, and in the atmosphere, as in clouds and water vapor.
- Water in liquid form is wet and fluid. Oceans, lakes, rivers, rain, seas, and groundwater are the main source of the liquid form of water.
- On earth, water is found in solid form as ice caps, snow, glaciers, etc. A very small quantity of water exists in the form of solid water on earth.
- Water is present in vapour form in very less quantities. The main sources of vapour form of water are vapour present in the atmosphere, soil moisture, clouds, etc.
- Water is present in vapour form in the troposphere. The amount of vapour in air varies according to the density of the air and temperature.
