1. in inhalation, the rib muscles contract and ribs are raised while in exhalation rib muscles relax bringing the ribs back to original position.
2. in inhalation, area of thoracic cavity is increased and pressure on lungs is reduced while in exhalation space in chest cavity is reduced and pressure on lungs is increased.
3. in inhalation, the air from outside rushes into lungs while in exhalation air is expelled it of lungs.
