There was a flood in Kashmir which led to a lot of destruction and loss of lives. It is necessary to take measures to protect the people from floods in future. Some of the measures are :

·         Better flood warning systems should be introduced. So that the people will have more time to take action.

·         Homes and businesses should be modified so that they can withstand floods.

·         Buildings should be constructed above flood levels.

·         Measures should be taken to tackle climate change.

·         Government should increase its expenditure building flood defences.

·         Create more wetlands and plant trees strategically.

·         Restore the rivers to their natural courses.

·         Set up water storage areas.

·         Improve the soil condition.

·         Set up more flood barriers.
