To draw the graph for the given linear equation, we need to first plot

the points which lie on it, join them to get a straight line.

Given, equation is

x + 2y   = 0 \\ \implies \: y =  -  \frac{x}{2}

Substitute different values of x in the equation and calculate to get corresponding values of x and y in the equation :

x + 2y = 0 \\  \implies \: y =  -  \frac{x}{2}

If x = 0 and y = 0 , then P(x,y) = P(0,0) .

Similarly , when x = 2 , then y = - 1 and P(x,y) = P(2, -1) .

Again , when x = 6 , then y = - 3 and P(x,y) = P(6, -3) .

When x = -2 , then y = 1 and P(x,y) = P(-2, 1) .

Again , when x = -4 , then y = 2 and P(x,y) = P(-4, 2) .

Plot these points on the graph paper and join them using a straight line. (refer to the attachment) .
