I) this scene takes place in a street in Venice.
Fawning publican is Antonio
third person present is Bassanio.

ii) by fawning publican Shylock wants to say that Antonio looks like a lowly income tax collector.
Shylock hates him because he is Christan but much more because he lends money without charging interest.

iii) the other 2 men have to Shylock to borrow 3000 ducts . fawning publican could not resolve this because his ships were out in sea and presently he did not have means to meet bassanio's needs.

iv) Antonio had spait on Shylock's Jewish clock,called him a cut throat dog and scholded him for all his financial transaction.
