In one of his experiments with pea plant Mendel observed that when a pure tall pea plant is crossed with a pure dwarf pea plant ,in first generation,F1 only tall plants appear (1)what happens to the traits of the drawf plant in this case (2) when the F1 generation plants are self -fertilised ,he observed that the plants of Second generation,F2 both tall plants and dwarf plants were present .why it happened? Explain briefly.

1. In F1 generation the traits of dwarf plant are present but are not expressed. In the hybrid of F1 generation tallness is a dominant trait thus it is expressed in F1 generation.
2. When Mendel self fertilised individuals of F1 generation the resultant plants were both tall and short since the recessive trait gets opportunity to express itself it a homozygous plant or pure dwarf
