In optics an object which has higher refractive index is called optically denser.
The reason is that when a light is refracted through a mirror, the light is reflected towards and angle. The higher the refractive index of the light, the normal is the angle. This is the reason that the normal, the better. The denser the optical object, he higher will be the refractive index which cause a more normal angle of reflection.
Thanks for asking.
