In order to demonstrate a particular phenomenon crystals of potassium permanganate was placed in the beaker half filled with water as shown in the diagram: 1. what phenomenon was being demonstrated

1.The phenomeno is Brownian motion or Simple Diffusion.

2.The water gradually becomes purple in colour. Particles of KMnO4 gradually move by diffusion from region of high concentration to the region of low concentration due to bombardment of the water molecules and KMnO4 particles since molecules of matter are always in continous random motion.

4. In plants, it occurs in water absorption by root hairs

   In animals, it occurs in the kidney and the liver
