Judiciary has been kept independent so that it may give impartial decisions and its verdicts are not influenced by the executive and legislative bodies.

To keep a check on the powers of the legislature and executive.

It is this independence of the judiciary that allows the courts to play a central role in protecting the Fundamental Rights of all the citizens. Thus, anyone can approach the courts if they believe that their rights have been violated by the government bodies.
