Why do people in India think wrong when they see a boy and girl roaming around or talking?

We always tend to compare cultural values with Westerners or Arabians (Islamic). Unfortunately every one does not realize that India has its own cultural values. No known person sees brother and sister or other related male and female youngsters talking to each other or young children below 14 years talking in public or private wrongly. People also do not mind students talking to each other . Only those who mistake them as sexually attracted think bad about it. Any way the answer sought was to know why do they think bad or try to discourage boys and girls talking to each other. India has come a long way from the days when men and women unknown to each other (strangers)or other than close relatives did not appreciate eye to eye contact. They doubt/fear mixing of boys and girls may develop in to a relationship which will end up in sexual relationship. The people of India have great faith in chastity. Chastity does not mean only culturally illegal sexual relationship, it is related to mind and (touch -sparish) male female skin contact. (Ramayana refers to conduct of men) Can you imagine that a male holding a male’s hand can be mistaken as homosexuals in the west? Friendly /closely related men hold each other’s hand and walk in India. We should not forget that many parts of India were ruled by Muslim rulers for nearly 800 years. We have that effect on the people. Islamic culture prevent women and men from mixing is practiced as and when children reach their teen age. As education system in India heavily depends on English and one may witness conflict of cultures. Roaming around or wandering is not appreciated in any country.
