In physics we say that energy cannot be created nor be destroyed. Then how is energy formed in mitochondria

Mitochondria is a cell organlle responsible for cellular respiration. It helps in production of energy by combining oxygen with nutrients. Nutrients are the stored energy. So here... energy doesn't get formed..... it is changed from one form to another.
